First Day of School '08

Today was the first day of school! Sierra didn't cry! Sasha waved me off before I could even set foot in her classroom. I think they will be ok. I didn't really have any doubts about Sasha. She's been at home at The Center School since the first time she walked in the door. Sierra has taken a little longer to come around to the idea of going to school. Just as in most other situations, she has to sit back and observe for a bit before deciding whether or not she's interested in doing something. Blue playdough, and the promise that Daddy and I would return soon was enough to satisfy her today. Here are a few pictures I took today. You'll notice that the before the cubby, entering the class and getting settled pictures are missing. That would be because my camera had the NERVE to quit working as we pulled up to the school. Thankfully, I have an understanding husband, who was willing to indulge his very anxious wife and take her to buy a new camera while the girls enjoyed their first (half) day of school. Pick up was at 12:30, and by 10:30 I was ready to go check on Sierra. Kevin was able to distract me for a while, and we went back, Sierra was eating lunch. Yes, I did sneak around and take a picture through the window on the door.

I went up and grabbed Sasha from her classroom, and snapped a shot of Sasha and her teacher Emily. Emily is the daughter of the children's room librarian at our local library, who we all adore. Sasha is happy to be in her class for the second year in a row.

After grabbing Sasha, we headed down to get Sierra, who was waiting with Kevin and Eva. After showing us how much she ate in her lunch box, and drawing she did of all the girls in the family, she was ready to go. She was not in the mood for any pictures at that point, but I did manage to snap one before she drug me out the door.

I have some more pictures to upload, that I took at the house before we left, but they require editing and frankly, I'm just too tired for that tonight. But in the mean time, feel free to ejoy a couple pictures of Miss Eva, and yes, that is her WALKING.

For our three blessings....

One more for today...

Overheard, while Sierra was in the bathtub today, in her cute little sing song voice:

"I want my baby sister, I want my baby sister, I want my baby sister."

I guess I'm not the only one who is anxious for Eva to make her appearance.

Kevin's Trip to Cooperstown

So, like always, it takes me a while to follow up with pictures. I know you're all dying to know what Kevin and Al's campsite looked like, so I won't keep you in suspense. This is the LOVELY site that I reserved for them.

Classy, isn't it? Don't be fooled by the tent next to them, camping in a hunting tent (with no bottom, after a rain storm) is how you camp in style. And the site marker, could it be lovelier? You can't beat a good old paper plate stapled to a piece of wood, can you?
Do you see the building in the background? That is where Kevin and Al played a rousing game of bingo one evening.

Before that, I believe, Al went to this little fishing hole. What do you think he caught in here?

And this ball of fire, this is the HUGE bonfire that was promised on the website.

All in all, the guys had a good time. They visited the Hall of Fame for many hours, saw Cal Ripkin (kind of up close), and other baseball stuff.

Be well~

Summer pictures

Ok, so I promised pictures yesterday and failed to deliver. Is anyone surprised? Not really, right? I am so bad about the picture thing. I won't keep you waiting any longer. Promise. No, really, I promise. All right, I'll stop playing around and just post the pictures. Here is how we spent our summer. Sierra and Sasha both had a great time at dance camp. Sierra spent two weeks in the world of Fairies and Ladybugs. Sasha spent the first two weeks of camp helping with Sierra's camp for 3 hours, taking a 1 hour lunch break, and then returning to the studio for 2 hours of intensive ballet bar work and an intro. to jazz. As you can see from the pictures, Sierra had a wonderful time, and Sasha....well, Sasha's still smiling, but she's tired.

Pictures from Sasha's performance will follow. I forgot my camera at home that day, so I have to rely on the kindness of my dear, sweet Mother to email me some of her pictures. Up next will also be some pictures of Kevin's trip to Cooperstown. You'll get to see exactly what kind of camp site a person ends up with when they let their wife, who they are abandoning for the weekend, make their reservations.

Hello~

Hello friends and family! Thanks for stopping by our blog. As I'm sure you all know, I am terrible at sending pictures and even worse at writing letters. I thought I'd start this blog as a way to share a little bit more of our lives with people who mean a lot to us. Also, I'm on bed rest for the next week, and I could use the distraction of adding pictures to the blog! :) Right now, I'm tired and heading to bed, but I hope to upload some of our summer pictures tomorrow. We have had a relaxed, yet sometimes hectic summer. Sasha and Sierra both attended dance camp this summer, and Kevin had a wonderful weekend trip to Cooperstown, NY with his Dad to see Cal Ripkin inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. I've spent my summer gestating, driving the kids around and helping out at the dance studio. The work I've done for the studio has been fun, and helps pay for the 8 million (ok, slight exaggeration) dance classes that the girls wish to take this year. Hopefully, I'll get the pictures up tomorrow morning.

Be well~
